Bagless vacuum cleaners make emptying the vacuum much easier as you can empty it straight into the bin. But being bag-free doesn’t mean your vacuum cleaner couldn’t use a bit of TLC.
How To Look after a Bagless Vacuum Cleaner
Here is our guide to cleaner maintenance …
You’ll need:
- * A microfibre cloth.
- * A toothbrush.
- * A tin can of compressed air.
- * A flexible cleaning brush (optional)
Clean the filter
Keeping the filter clean keeps your vacuum working at its best. Check the manual to see if it can be removed and cleaned. Others just need changing every few months.
If it can be cleaned, remove the filter and tap it over a bin to get rid of any dust. Then run it under the tap to clean it. You’ll know it is clean when the water runs clear. Leave it to dry for 24 hours before putting it back in the vacuum cleaner.
Clean hard to reach areas
Open up the vacuum cleaner and wipe it over with a microfibre cloth. We recommend microfibre because picks up the smallest particles. Treat tricky areas with an old toothbrush.
Check the hose
Use a flexible cleaning brush to get in and carefully remove any blockages.
Clean the attachments
Most modern vacuums come loads of accessories. Almost all of them can be removed and some can even be disassembled.
First, the main floor brush. Use scissors to remove hair from the roller brush.
Now take a look at the smaller attachments. You can blast away dirt with a tin of compressed air. If you don’t have any, soak the attachments in a bowl of warm, soapy water.
