To keep your toaster working efficiently and free from crumbs, experts recommend that you give it a deep clean every month, however, if you make a lot of toast, every week or two is better.
Cleaning Your Toaster
Here is our guide to keeping your toaster clean!
Cleaning the inside
Ensure the toaster is unplugged from the mains and cool! Place a tray on the side and turn it upside down, gently shaking out the crumbs, then remove the crumb tray. Pop it in the sink with some warm soapy water. Then using a large clean paintbrush or pastry brush, work your way down from the top, gently brushing away crumbs. Wash the crumb tray, and replace it when it’s fully dry.
Melted cheese
If the cheese has melted onto the toaster, wait until remove it gently with a spatula or wooden spoon: an old toothbrush will help gently remove residue from the bars.
Cleaning the outside
For most toasters, warm soapy water should do the trick. However, for some staining, you’ll need to break out the baking soda! Dip an old toothbrush in the baking soda and gently scrub at the stains until they are gone.
Chrome Toaster
White vinegar is perfect for removing stains and grease from chrome toasters. Use a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water. Using a cloth, wipe down the toaster paying attention to any stains. Leave the solution to work for a few minutes before wiping the toaster down with a fresh cloth, finishing off with a polish from a microfibre cloth.
New Toaster
We advise you to clean your new product before putting food in it. Use a cloth that has been dipped in warm soapy water to wipe it down, then turn it upside down and shake to ensure it is free from debris. Use a clean paintbrush or pastry brush to sweep the interior and then finish off with a polish from your microfibre cloth.
