Washing machine technology is improving all the time, and the most modern models have a wide range of features. Exactly what you will get varies depending on the brand and model you choose. Usually, the more expensive the machine, the more features it has. We’ve listed some of the technology that we think is useful for most households, to help you make the right choice for your family.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC Connection
There are many things in your home that are now smart, and your washing machine need not be an exception. By connecting to a compatible model over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or NFC (Near Field Communication), you can remotely control and monitor your washing machine with an app on your phone. You can start, stop or pause the cycles, or even receive an alert when your load is finished, at the tap of a screen. Some apps detect issues with the appliance and troubleshoot solutions o you do not have to call out an engineer. You can even download new cycles to suit your needs.
Although this technology is till quite new, a number of models with this feature are being released every month. For example, Hoover washing machines incorporate an NFC connection with the Hoover Wizard app, and Beko and Blomberg offer the same functionality via an app called HomeWhizz over a Bluetooth connection. Many other brands such as Bosch and Samsung now also have smart connection technology.
