It is important to know your new tumble dryer’s size: especially if you have already picked a space for it. If the size is an essential factor, visit the shop so you can see the appliance. Sometimes dimensions don’t include the hoses at the back. To make sure a new tumble dryer will fit, pop and see us first. This is particularly important for vented models, as you need space for the hose.
Tumble Dryer Size and Dimensions
Some kitchen appliances vary in size, but tumble dryers only come in two types – full size or compact.
Full-Size Tumble Dryer
A full-size tumble dryer is much more common in the UK than compact models. If you want to dry a load from a full washing machine, you will need a full-size dryer. They are 85 cm in height, 60 cm in width and around 60 cm deep, although there can be variation between different makes and models. If you have low counters or a specific space to fill, be sure to research these slight size differences.
Compact Tumble Dryer
If you have significantly less space or low drying requirements, a compact tumble dryer could meet your needs. They occupy a smaller footprint: around 67 cm tall, 49 cm wide and 48 cm in depth. They slot easily into most kitchens or utility rooms but they will have a smaller capacity and are harder find.
There is not just the size of the appliance to think about. The door has an impact on how easy the tumble dryer is to use. If you wash a lot of large, bulky items, getting things in and out of a small porthole can be a chore. For front-loading models, portholes range from 30 cm diameter to 48 cm.
