How To Make The Most Of A Small Kitchen

House sizes are shrinking: the average new-build measures just 76 sqm –so kitchens are getting smaller.

How To Make The Most Of A Small Kitchen

Remove Unused Appliances

It might seem obvious but getting rid of unused appliances is the most effective way to make space in a small kitchen. If you have accumulated appliances that now need discarding, you can sell or donate them.

Storing Appliances Correctly

Once you’ve decided what you really need, keeping the kitchen organised helps you make the most of the space. There is no ‘right’ way to store appliances, but there are many space-saving tricks. Only keep your most regularly used appliances on the counter. Appliances that are used less often should be stored away. Wrap the electrical cord around the appliance after use and put ay attachments in a zip lock bag.

Multi-Use Appliances

Just because you have limited space doesn’t mean you must go without – Integrated products can save counter space, and there are many multi-use items, such as:

  •          Washer dryers
  •          Microwave ovens
  •          Blenders that are also food processors
  •          Grills that can cook meat and toast bread

Smaller Appliances

Bigger isn’t necessarily better. As more people move into studio flats, the choice of compact kitchen appliances has increased. For example:

  •          Single hot plates
  •          Slimline and countertop dishwashers
  •          Small apartment-sized stoves
  •          Undercounter fridges and freezers

As you can see, having a small kitchen isn’t as much of a problem as you might think.
