Catalytic ovens make cleaning the cooker really simple. But if you don’t have a top of the range cooker, then baking soda is the next best thing to get your cooker clean.
How To Clean The Oven With Baking Soda
All you need to clean the oven is some baking soda and water. It takes a lot less elbow grease than you might think. Simply sprinkle some baking soda onto the bottom of the oven and door. For the sides, make up a thick paste of powder and water. It is best to leave it applied overnight for the optimum results.
The beauty of this method is that by using baking powder it is natural and safe. Baking soda is mildly abrasive and a lot friendlier for the environment than most commercial chemical cleaners. Even better, it does not smell - cleaning your oven with a commercial cleaner can lead to unpleasant fumes when you next use it.
Afterwards, you can spray some white vinegar around the interior of the oven to remove any lingering traces of baking soda. If you did not know, baking soda and bicarbonate of soda are basically the same. Baking powder does have some slightly different ingredients, but it does contain bicarbonate of soda.
As always with a new cleaning product, test it out on a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure it does not damage the oven.
