Toddlers love getting messy, but it does not mean they cannot have nice clean clothes – here are some ways to clean even the toughest toddler stains.

Stains that toddlers make (and how to clean them)

Mud

Young kids love splashing in muddy puddles, which is not so good for their trousers! Unlike the majority of stains, mud is best left to dry and then brushed off as best you can. Then rub liquid detergent and water into the garment until it creates suds before rinsing off. Then wash as usual.

Chocolate

Melted chocolate is a paid, so wipe off as much as you can, then use liquid detergent to pre-treat the stain, rubbing well into the fabric. Leave it for five minutes then pop it in the wash at the hottest temperature the clothing can handle.

Blackcurrant juice

First off, rinse the clothing with cold water right away to dilute the stain. Then use liquid detergent, pouring over the stain, so it is completely covered, and leave it for 20 minutes. Then wash on a hot cycle.

Chewing gum

If chewing gum or bubble gum has become stuck on clothing, try freezing the garment to harden the gum and scrape it off using a blunt knife. Then soak the stain with liquid detergent for a minute or two and rinse off before washing on the normal setting.

Ketchup

Remove excess ketchup with a knife, carefully, so you do not rub it in. Then turn the garment inside out and run under a cold tap. Then wash as normal.

Crayon

An ordinary bar of soap can be rubbed on the stains after dampening them to pre-treat them then wash the clothes on the hottest setting that is safe for the fabric.
